becquinho: (JIN/PIKA PIKA)

So I am writing this directly after the con finished. Please bear in mind that I saw this one time, had no desire to take notes while I could be dancing to Jin and that my memory is atrocious. But here goes.

The doors opened quite promptly at 6 pm. I was with [livejournal.com profile] katmillia  and several of her friends. We rushed there directly after dinner and only stood in line for about 10 minutes or so in the cold and took pictures etc. People immediately rushed to the goods line obviously, but it was rather horribly organized so even though Katy and I were in the first 30% or so we barely managed to get any goods. As most people in the very front bought so many multiples before they started imposing limits. Also the concert only had an approximately a 50% attendence rate. Which meant that people in the balcony actually got upgraded to third row seats etc.  I found this out while waiting for goods with Katy and raged over it for ages with her. Anyway the theatre was quite nice and they did not search us at all for cameras, there were light effects that seemed similiar to the ones from the Japan farewell party playing accross the theatre while we waited. I had seats next to two rather ditsy highschool girls who were not hardcore Jin fans (Kanjani8 biased instead) and a very blankfaced Taiwanese girl. But four seats away there was a girl dressed up in a pikachu kirugumi which was both hilarious and adorable. Most of the audience was Asian and a fair amount seemed to have flown in from Japan etc. which wasn't a huge surprise. Also for reference I was sitting in the 8th row to the stage's right.

So as in LA the concert began with two MCs who attempted to get the crowd to scream for them etc. with a relatively low success rate. Then they introduced a short video clip of Jin from LA, but it was mostly clips we have seen before, involving him running up the stairs at the venue, shots of lines and a bit from his press con where he talked about how grateful he was to hold the con. Then Joey came on and did a brief dance segment before Dom sang one song. After that the MCs tried to get the crowd excited about a new video , which turned out to be rather hilarious clips from the shooting of his recent shop photos interspersed with the two minute English interview from the website. Somewhat odd editing really as we're all like YAY! NEW JIN VIDEO..and then hello cute but old promo interview :|. Finally at the end of the video they dragged on the drum set which meant we knew Jin would be making his appearance at last.

Jin wandered onto stage from the right and hugged/did 'manly' buddy handshakes with the male dancers on the lower stage before moving up to the elevated drum set and doing his robot music box dance intro. He greeted us with welcome to Yellow Gold 3010, Chicago...weather sunny and alcohol ready!. Then launched into Christmas Morning which was gorgeous and haunting. the stage was  quite simple and the dancers were mainly in front of him going through robotic movements while he sang and 'played' on the drums and guitar before stepping down to the front of the stage ,also he was attired in the same fashion as the  LA cons for that, white jacket, baggy jeans and sunglasses etc. During the instrumental part the lights went completely out and he 'conducted' that portion with a light stick. Which the crowd was rather keen on...although my thoughts were running more along the lines of oh Jin, you would fail so hard at actual conducting XD;. He mainpulated the dancers robotically as has no doubt been previously described.

Bass Go Boom was next, so much fun. The crowd was not as crazy as I would've have liked for this concert but I usually go to rock concerts and mosh so maybe JE cons aren't normally as insane?. But it's a really fun song and you could feel the energy spike the moment C.L.A.P spiked accross the screen and people started to clap and dance.

Wonder got a lot of cheers at the beginning when we recognized the intro and had the PV played across the screen as expected while Jin danced and had girls writhe about him..though he looked quite bored for the most part at the girls. Also random but hilarious for me was that the stupid leather couch (that is in Jin's popeye photos, new shop photos and kame something photoshoot! etc.) was also in the pv XD, oh JE please never stop reusing the same shit for everything.

I.N.P was following, and honestly that song I have never found very appealing before =/. However it is as I suspected one that is a fabulous one for lives. Jin was extremely smiley and kept raising his hands and trying to get us to mimic the hand motions for the chorus. So enjoyable and it helped raise the crowd's tension nicely.

A Page was heartrending T_T...he was alone on stage and clutched a stand mic during it I think also the lighting was red and atmospheric. He poured so much emotion into the notes and the audience was so excited the moment the opening notes played, before quieting down and listening to him. At this point I was hugging myself though because that song means so much to me. Was a tad out of breath from I.N.P but it was a gorgeous performance ♥.

So Jin then disappeared and it's a tad perplexing for a moment, I was dreading that. they might throw in an intermission etc XD. But text messages start scrolling across the screen from Jin asking us if we are enjoying the show, and to scream etc. which of course we reply with yells etc. This continues for a bit and then he starts asking us to pick a number, which resulted amusingly in the crowd actually muttering and yelling out numbers at the empty stage. Seven was the most popular for some reason, then he starts feeding us an equation with add 4, divide by 2, minus 6 etc. Waits a bit then inquires if we understood (him mispelling you and having to retype it was adorbs) he repeats the whole question and equations to ensure we figure out the answer and asks us to minus the  1st answer which supposedly resulted in 1? The entire time during this portion all I could really think of was ..Jin you failed at math so hard at your fanmeeting so why are you teasing us about it now when you are still awful at it? I was bemused to say the least...and the texting was very typical text talk, ur, lol, and mispellings etc. so cue me shaking my head in fond bemusement. It was an extremely cute song intro though. First is Owah ( not 100% sure that is the title btw) which is fairly sweet fun pop, colorful lighting and the dancers show up while Jin is singing and they sort of migrate about the stage. The chorus is pretty hilarious in the context of Jin's normal style etc as it basically involves a math equation being spelled out with the result that you are the 1. Or maybe I'm just horribly amused about the song's concept in general, even if it's very cute.

He appears on stage alone again, very little light effects and basically thanks us for coming, and adorable and stumblingly acknowledges and gives a shout out to everyone who drove and flew in from other countries and cities. It was essentially the only time he talked the entire con, so sad and upset he didn't attempt an MC. But he seemed nervous , then again when is Jin not shy about talking? But the vibe was very appreciative overall ♥. He also seemed to get muddled while saying he was going to sing his new songs and ended up ducking his head in classic Jin mortification. Then says he wrote three new songs and so in essence this turns into the YAY! NEW STUFF SO EVERYONE FOCUS ON LYRICS portion of the con XD.

Body talk next, which might have been my very favorite vocal performance in some ways. I have so much love for this song and hearing it live was just overwhelming T_T ♥. Turned out a bit hilarious though as Jin was all my new song! And the audience was like yay we love this one *starts singing along*. It began with Jin alone on stage, later a girl dancer began to dance off to the side while being joined by another male. And they both continued to dance a rather amusing combination of sensual cuddling and writhing with classic dance and lifts etc. Bit blurry on them as I was focused on Jin mostly, but it turned out more unintentionally funny than I imagine Jin intended. Gorgeous though *______* the song is breathtaking, almost wistful sensuality live T_T♥.

Fifth Season was the final new song. Again Jin was utterly alone on stage and it's a beautiful ballad with the chorus going along the lines of when you're near I become so overwhelmed with love I lose track of the seasons. He drew out the overwhelming part/note in the chorus while clutching his mic and tilting his head back, so please give me a moment while I melt *-*♥. So grateful the new songs were ballads, just yes Jin thank you for giving us geuine emotion!♥. Admittedly hearing him sing 'I lose track of the seasons~' is rather odd because I kept wanting to insert time into the verse instead of seasons as it sounded a tad awkward (or just one of those phrasings that you rarely see in English) but he gets props for trying to be inventive here *pats*.♥

Lovejuice next! Bit of an odd mood transition here, but the crowd got really happy when they recognized it. Nothing too new here to comment on, Jin did his dancing and made the girls shriek over hip movements that were fairly obscured by very illfitting jeans. It's a fun (classic Jin) song though and early on focus is thrown on a girl dancer who does a bit of solo dancing before weaving over to seduce Jin with her stare XD. The she gave me one look I froze line involved momentary freezing, so amused ideky XD.

Jin grabs two girls and sits with them while drinking and yelling into his mic while his dancers do moves here I think( tad confused between this part and the long weird dance segment) But then the photo paparazzi moment happened which everyone got extremely YAY! over as we knew Paparats would be up next!(yes Mec, no worries that you'll need to storm the stage from him cutting it :3) .PAPARATS IS SO MUCH LOVE!! Just hello raw emotion afsdhkdfk forgive my incoherency, but it was the song I was dying to hear most (apart from Eternal, which we didn't..boo!),

Hey Girl! Another song I'm wasn't originally keen on but was insanely fun live. Lots of audience interaction with Jin bouncing about pointing at sections and the camera zooming in on the faces of girls chilling in the pit. My favorite part had to be the dancer picking up a suitcase and airguitaring with it before Jin slid over and started 'airguitaring' on it while it was held in front of him, so silly and fun :D.

World Dance was basically similar to LA from the fancams I saw, same sections etc. Joey was fairly adorable during some solos and had tons of cute Jin interaction moments. Also I was both annoyed and horribly amused that Jin kept that stupid fedora on his head even under his mask and wig, although at times he looked worried the entire thing was going to topple from his head. Over the course of the mask dance random kanji were displayed over the screen, and near the end they narrowed down to just the single one for Jin, which excited peeps XD During part of the dance portion he teased us with removing his hat which got some of the loudest cheers all night, then immediately slid it over his face and making 'sunglasses' appear on his face, and then returning his hat. Needless to say I and most of the audience it seemed were furious at our hope of Jin not hiding under stuff being stamped on. But the audience teasing was endearing :3.

Yellow Gold!! The crowd basically got the most excited for this one! Started off waving their arms and clapping immediately!Basically FUN FUN FUN! Also Jin looked happy happy at our enthusiam :3.

My Mp3 was cuuuute! Around me the people were twirling their arms in the air and it was fabulous, I love that song so much just for its cheerful playful vibe. Tipsy Love was last, and again laughing so hard at the bubble ball wheeled out on stage especially for it. Jin teased us and cracked up while exagerating the question part, while we all yelled Ye-Oh back at him ♥. Then he stood center stage while flanked by dancers and sang while we all waved our arms in the air for a seeming eternity (felt like mine might drop off XD). And pointed the mic at the audience for most of the ~hey hey~ parts and kept yelling louder at us. So fun to hear everyone singing along while Jin just beamed at us and swayed. When Tipsy Love wrapped up he did dancer intros again, except he did it by singing (and got us to join in and help) all the dancer's names to the tune of Tipsy Love while he squished them ♥. Kept saying thank you, everyone did a group bow and then Jin wandered off to the side I was on and jumped into the air, said tchau! (I think) and promptly disappeared.

Evidently almost everyone was like well Jin NEVER does encores because the audience didn't really try to get him to come out and just left the theatre quickly =/. They were selling a few more goods again and I managed to grab a poster this time, although I'm still furious at not getting any of the photos +_+. Also Adjust the Love was cut which annoyed me as it was one I definitely wanted to hear live. But hey...at least we got new songs! Eternal wasn't sung either, but I thought a Japanese song might've been too much to hope for :((( .Oh and for you creeper's sakes, he looked both gorgeous and quite thin again =/. His smile is pure love ♥.

Overall it was wonderful ♥! Seeing Jin so close and happy was overwhelming, he sounded exquisite. To say I was enthralled and shattered would be an understatement </3 T______T and I was able to meet some lovely (slightly bonkers ♥) people while supporting him in this rather crazy dream of his, oh Jin ♥. I'm also happy that the main thing I remember from this is his voice and how he sounded and looked so intense when singing ;o;..This report is essentially for all my friends who persuaded me into being crazy and flying in for just one concert, and to those of you who desperately wanted to go but couldn't *hugs*. I'm insanely excited for everyone going to the later dates.♥!

Apologies if this has grave errors in details, or come off as dull. I have zero experience writing con reports and only agreed because I got so many requests from friends. Also thanks to Katy, for helping ensure I wasn't lonely this weekend! :D!
